“You can’t skip from where you start,” says Author Saurabh Pant in an exclusive interview

Where do you get your ideas?

I have been fond of reading, to become  a writer, you have to be good reader first  it’s simple reasoning and after reading a lot, be it Braille in early years and going to through with audio books and now  Ebooks with screen reader, that all has led to a much better thinking process for me in this huge time.

What advice do you have for writers?

I always say one thing to new writers, you can’t skip from where you start. You have to continue, at the same pace, with equal energy and effort as writing is a long living art and it doesn’t come just in a few book  sales, reports or even podcasts.

These all  steps are part of it and you have to  live within  and up to it, so  stand firm and make your position become memorised forever.

What is the first book that made you cry?

There is not one  specific book that makes me cry, but  there are certain elements in a book that can make you cry, like showing a group of people losing home, nature is going to crack down, children are taken away or some kind of emotion, so I can’t say there is one specific  book.

Does a big ego help or hurt writers?

This is very straight for me, you can’t have ego, yes, its an emotion that exist in you, but doing anything is simply your dedication so respect the better people above from your calibre,  the more feeling like ego you bring, the worst your results would be, so its better you keep it away.

How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?

It was special, much different  from the way I used to just write, I came in touch of better writers, to have talks on what level creative writing spans around and It led to my rise as a complete author by it

What was your hardest scene to write?

If I talk about my last novel, for me the toughest part was to end it. War is a huge narrative to cover and I was not sure at what point of time I  should end it so I had to be careful and precise, so ending it was tough.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

I am not fond of going too deep in work as it takes a lot of energy, but for general terms I research for parts or pieces of story, like I did on martial arts for my last novel on the Russian Ukraine war and it proved decent so I do research in  smaller parts for better knowledge.

How do you select the names of your characters?

Simply the plot, like for ‘Rage of marine titan’s I was writing about Russia and Ukraine so you must have names who depict such culture and I did some research on bibliographies and the names they had from such countries that helps you to select smarter names anyhow.

How long have you been writing or when did you start?

My growth in writing is a long story. I  grew in certain folds. In my school I used to write in Braille, then I  came to college where I used to write for magazines and then in 2014 I published my first work.

It would almost complete 9 years this September since I took a step into writing, many people still make me realise I have lot to do and I admire their feedbacks, but from the time I start, it’s been good to be author of  more than 120 works and win 9 global awards, it is indeed a happy journey to be an author and hopefully it would continue further.

  1. Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your
blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing.
Do you have any suggestions for inexperienced blog writers?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.
