INKDEW Hosts First-Ever Open Mic Show at Deomali on Republic Day
Deomali, Odisha: Marking a momentous occasion, INKDEW organized the first-ever Open Mic Show at the scenic hill station of Deomali on Republic Day. This unique event celebrated the spirit of art, literature, and patriotism, bringing together talent from across the state in an unforgettable gathering.
 
The event was graced by the presence of Sri Krushna Singh, a renowned Gandhian and Bhudan Satyagrahi, as the Chief Guest. Joining him as Distinguished Guests were eminent writer Krupasagar Sahu and Jhansi Singh. Their inspiring words added a special touch to the occasion.
 
Organized under the guidance of INKDEW’s founding member, Dr. Manoj Kishore Nayak, the event saw participation from 40 poets, authors, and performers from across Odisha. Local youth and children also showcased their talents, adding vibrancy to the occasion. Krupasagar Sahu’s novel Urmila: Eka Jibana was unveiled during the program, receiving wide appreciation. Outstanding performers and participants were honored and awarded, celebrating their creative achievements.
 
A Celebration of Creativity
 
The Open Mic Show featured 40 poets from various corners of Odisha, who mesmerized the audience with their verses. Beyond poetry, the event included storytelling, soulful music performances, and an engaging interactive session, making it a comprehensive celebration of artistic expression.
 
Two major highlights of the event were the discussion on She Is Not My Ex, an English novel by Sushil Kumar Gochhayat, and the unveiling of Urmila, a much-anticipated book by Krupasagar Sahu. Both segments were well-received by the audience and set a high standard for literary discussions.
 
Showcasing Local Talent
 
Adding a unique flavor to the event, Padman Hantal presented a captivating football skills demonstration, showcasing the raw talent of the region. Karate demonstrations by the Utkal Karate Team, led by Sensei Rajendra Samal from Semiliguda School, were another major attraction. Participants Akanksha Mahanti, Nandini Nayak, Tripti Mahanti, and Tapaswini Nayak displayed incredible energy and skill.
 
The event also shone a spotlight on young talent with Shreyansi Maharana earning the title of "Little Star" for her remarkable performance. Musical renditions by Sridhar Parida, Rashmita Barik, and Devendra Raju added a melodious touch to the program.

The program was anchored by Priyanka Priyadarshini Ray, whose engaging presentation kept the audience captivated throughout the event. At the end, Shrimā Banua delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants, organizers, and attendees.
