I've always loved mythology and science fiction. As a child, I admired superheroes like Superman and Spider-Man, but I often wondered why our children weren't equally fascinated by our own heroes. We have extraordinary personalities like Shri Krishna, whose wisdom, courage, and vision continue to inspire generations.

That thought stayed with me for years. I wanted to write a story that would encourage young readers to see Indian mythology with fresh eyes—not as something confined to the past, but as something exciting, mysterious, and relevant. That's how The Kalpvigrah was born. I wanted to blend ancient Indian wisdom with science fiction and adventure to create a story that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

2. Can you share some insights into your writing process? Do you follow a specific routine or have any unique rituals that help you get into a creative flow?

I'm a firm believer that writing is a habit more than a burst of inspiration. I try to write every single day, even if it's just for an hour. Some days I write chapters, while on others I simply make notes or brainstorm ideas.

Reading is a huge part of my writing process. I spend a great deal of time reading the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Puranas, and books on Indian history and archaeology. I also enjoy visiting historical sites and ancient temples because they often spark new ideas. Sometimes a single sculpture or an old legend can inspire an entire chapter.

3. The characters in your book are quite distinct and memorable. Are they based on real people, or did they evolve purely from your imagination?

The characters are fictional, but they are inspired by ordinary people around us. I didn't want perfect superheroes. I wanted children who make mistakes, have fears, ask questions, and gradually discover their own strengths.

For me, the real message is that every child possesses a hidden superpower. It may not be the ability to fly or become invisible—it could be courage, kindness, curiosity, resilience, or intelligence. I hope readers finish the book believing that they, too, are capable of extraordinary things.

4. Your book explores mythology and science fiction. What motivated you to explore this theme, and what message do you hope readers will take away?

I've always believed that India's ancient knowledge is one of our greatest treasures. Unfortunately, many young people think mythology is simply a collection of old stories. I wanted to present these ideas in a way that today's readers would genuinely enjoy.

Science fiction became the perfect bridge. It allowed me to connect ancient wisdom with futuristic possibilities. My hope is that readers enjoy the adventure first, and once they finish the book, become curious enough to explore India's history, spirituality, and culture on their own.

5. The world-building in your novel is incredibly rich and immersive. How did you create the setting? Did you draw inspiration from real-world locations or historical events?

Yes, very much. Many locations in the book are inspired by real places in India. I've always been fascinated by sites such as the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, especially the Kailasa Temple. When you see an entire temple carved from a single rock, you naturally begin asking questions about the people who built it and the knowledge they possessed.

Those questions became the starting point for my imagination. I combined real history, archaeological mysteries, ancient temples, and legends with fiction to create a world where readers constantly wonder what is real and what is imagined.

6. As a writer, how do you balance originality with the expectations of the mythology genre? Were there challenges in creating your own unique approach?

That was definitely one of the biggest challenges. There are already many wonderful books based on Indian mythology, so I knew I didn't want to simply retell stories that everyone already knows.

Instead, I asked myself, "What if mythology met science fiction?" That idea gave me the freedom to create something different. I wanted the book to feel like a fast-paced adventure while still respecting our traditions. Finding that balance took time, but I believe that's what gives The Kalpvigrah its own unique identity.

7. The pacing of your story keeps readers engaged from beginning to end. How do you maintain tension and momentum throughout the narrative?

I always try to end every chapter with a question or a surprise that makes readers want to continue. While writing, I constantly imagine myself as the reader and ask, "Would I be excited to turn the next page?"

I enjoy revealing information little by little. Every answer opens the door to a bigger mystery. Alongside the action and suspense, I also focus on the emotions of the characters because readers remain invested when they genuinely care about the people in the story.

8. In an age of rapidly changing media and reader preferences, how do you see the role of traditional storytelling evolving, and how do you adapt your writing to connect with contemporary audiences?

I believe great stories never lose their power. What changes is the way we tell them. Today's readers have endless entertainment options, so stories need to capture their attention from the very first page.

That's why I use modern storytelling techniques—fast pacing, mystery, relatable characters, and science fiction—while keeping the heart of the story rooted in Indian culture and philosophy. If young readers finish the book feeling entertained while also inspired to learn more about our heritage, then I feel I've achieved what I set out to do.
