The Broken Flame: A Tale of Love, Destiny, and Rebellion in Ancient Aryavarta By Lokesh Bhardwaj – Amazon Bestselling Mythological Epic

In the ancient kingdom of Aryavarta, where snow-capped peaks meet burning sands, two souls are bound by a love that defies fate. Trivikrama, a ruler shaped by war and duty, and Kautuki, a desert-born flame, face challenges that test their loyalty, courage, and hearts.

As enemies close in and alliances fracture, love becomes both their strength and their undoing. A fugitive’s fall into dark waters awakens memories of a love that once promised to heal the land. Amid whispers of rebellion, prophecy, and betrayal, the question remains: can love truly conquer all, or will it be crushed under the weight of destiny?

The Broken Flame: The Flames of Aryavarta is a captivating mythological epic, blending romance, action, and spiritual depth, now recognized as an Amazon Bestseller.

  1. What inspired you to write The Broken Flame, and how did the idea for the story come to you?

I was born into a Hindu Brahmin family, where stories of gods, sages, and ancient kingdoms weren’t just bedtime tales—they were lessons in life, morality, and destiny. Religion, dharma, mythology, and history have always fascinated me. These shaped how I see love, loss, greed, sacrifice, and redemption.

At the same time, I grew up during the era of Shah Rukh Khan—the king of romance. His movies inspired me to write new generation romance, when expressed with vulnerability, can move mountains. Around 2017, I decided to bring these two worlds together—the spiritual and the emotional, the epic and the intimate—and that’s how The Broken Flame, the first book of The Flames of Aryavarta Trilogy, was born.

I wanted to create a story that doesn’t just entertain but makes readers feel deeply—a story where every emotion has a consequence and every truth hides a secret.

  1. The story beautifully blends mythology, romance, and psychological depth. How did you balance these elements while writing?

Honestly, I never planned a balance between these aspects—it happened naturally as Trivikrama and Kautuki’s journey unfolded. Their emotional intensity naturally intertwined with the spiritual and mythological layers of the story. Every challenge they face—both internal and external—became a reflection of human duality: reason versus desire, dharma versus emotion.

3. What role do your own experiences and cultural background play in shaping your characters?

Life has been my greatest teacher. My personal experiences, both joyful and challenging, deepened my understanding of faith and resilience. The characters in my story embody that philosophy—they are imperfect, vulnerable, and human. Through them, I explore questions of destiny, choice, and the courage to love despite the odds.

4. The setting of Aryavarta feels vivid and alive. How important was world-building to your storytelling?

Very important. Aryavarta is not just a backdrop—it’s a living, breathing character. I wanted readers to feel the warmth of the deserts, the chill of the mountains, and the stillness of sacred rivers. The landscapes reflect the inner turmoil and transformation of the characters, creating a world where nature mirrors destiny.

5. What do you hope readers take away from The Broken Flame?

I hope readers see a reflection of their own struggles and faith within this story. The book reminds us that destiny is not punishment—it’s a design that helps us rediscover our strength and purpose. Even in pain, there’s growth. Even in endings, there’s a spark waiting to reignite.

When love defies destiny, legends are born.
